A 2011 utility truck was delivered to the Summit Hill Water Authority Tuesday. The truck, the first new vehicle in nearly 11 years for the authority, has an extended cab and a special 3,000 water power outlet in a side compartment. It was purchased from the Kovatch Corporation in Nesquehoning. Chet Michalik, authority chairman, said the last new vehicle was a 1999 truck, which was a leftover bought in May 2000. The compartment area of the 1999 vehicle is severely rusted, but it will remain in service. Barry Messerschmidt, third from right, of Kovatch Municipal Sales, gives the key to the truck to Butch Kane, supervisor of the Water Authority. Looking on are, from left, Brian Yusella, authority employee; Edward Kruczek and Patrick Kane, authority members; and Michalik. Smaller photo shows built-in power outlet.
