Senate Bill No. 82 has passed both branches of state government and is on the Governor's desk for consideration. It provides for the election of a county controller in sixth class counties, which embraces Carbon at a salary of $2,500 per year. Under an act of 1909, citizens may petition for such officer. Some counties are protesting the bill on the ground that it will increase the cost of government without corresponding improvement.
