A teenage boy and his accomplice were nabbed on Thursday following an armed robbery at a Monroe Countyy business.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said a 14-year-old male from Swiftwater and Jeremy Goodson, 31, of Mt. Pocono, have been charged in connection with a robbery at Megha Tobacco Oultet located along SR611, in Mt. Pocono.
According to police the incidents began about 9:52 a.m. when officers were dispatched to an attempted purse-snatching in the area of Mountain Drive. The female victim was interviewed and related two males were riding bicycles and as they rode by her one attempted to grab her purse. A description of the suspect was given to police.
At 11:31 a.m. police were dispatched to the tobacco outlet store for a reported armed robbery. At the store the clerk told police a young male entered the store and robbed him at gunpoint. The suspect fled with several hundred dollars, police said. The suspect fled on a bike, police noted, that matched the description given by the female in the purse incident.
While police were still on-scene at the outlet they received a call from the manager of the PNC bank branch in Mt. Pocono that a suspicious male entered the bank but left without incident. Police went to the bank and viewed surviellance footage. The male observed in the footage was wearing the same clothing as the suspect in the tobacco shop robbery.
While combing the area for the suspect police made contact with Goodson in the area of SR611 near the tobacco outlet. Police then located a bicycle, pellet gun and the hat the suspect was wearing in the robbery in a wooded area nearby.
Police then tracked the suspect to an area where there were several abandoned residences. In the same area police found a occupied house and inside three juveniles and Goodson.
After making contact with these individuals, it was determined they were involved in the robbery. The 14-year-old was identified as the person who entered the bank, attempted to steal the purse and committed the armed robbery.
Police determined that Goodson had solicited and conspired with the teen to commit various robberies throughout Mt. Pocono borough. Police obtained and served a search warrant on the residence where they found the group.
Found was the money taken in the robbery along with clothing worn by the suspect while committing the crimes.
The teen was charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy to committ robbery, criminal attempt to committ robbery, theft, receiving stolen property an other related offenses. He was committed to a juvenile detention center pending juvenile court action.
Goodson was charged with the same offenses plus corruption of minors, tampering with evidence and other related crimes. Goodson was committed to the county prison in Snydersville.
Pocono police were assisted in the investigation by state police and aviation unit of the Pocono Township police.
