The operator of an all terrain vehicle (ATV) was injured Thursday afternoon when struck by a car while crossing state SR209 in Towmensing Township. State police at Lehighton said Nitah Akinyi Otieno, 24, of Stroudsburfg, was operating a Polaris ATV about 5:46 p.m. when he attempted to cross SR209 and struck a Toyota Corolla operated by Richard Lee Hall, 67, of Lehighton. Reportedly several ATVs were traveling south on a private drive and attempted to cross the road. The vehicle was landed on the right berm. Otieno was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics then flown via PennStar helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill.
