Tamaqua's Amy Zehner topped the 1,000 career point mark in a victory over Minersville on Thursday.

With 5:45 remaining in the second quarter, Zehner scored her 1,000th career point on a drive and lay-up, propelling Tamaqua to a 68-48 victory non-league triumph over visiting Minersville.

Zehner went on to score a career-high 34 points on the night. She is now ninth on Tamaqua's all-time scoring list and the third to hit the 1,000 point plateau as a junior. Zehner also pulled down 14 rebounds.

Cassie Eroh (16 points and 10 rebounds) helped out the Lady Raiders by posting a double-double of her own.

Tamaqua is now 15-1 overall.

Tamaqua won the JV game 45-24 behind the efforts of Maria Streisel (15 points, 10 rebounds) and Christine Streisel (14 points).

Fillies Kaysi McLaughlin and Danielle Tristani each added seven in the winning effort.

Marian is now 12-5 overall, 6-3 in the league.

Figas scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Calia scored 19 and ripped down 12 rebounds. Teammate Caitlin Lesko also snatched 12 rebounds.

Melanie Clabia dished out ten assists and Saranda Snyder made nine steals for the Wreckers (7-10, 2-8).

Weatherly also won the JV game, 56-34.

Tamaqua received 24 points from Anthony Bumbulsky and 19 points from Michael Taylor and went on to defeat host Nativity, 63-54, in a non-league game in Pottsville.

The Blue Raiders trailed by two at halftime, 29-27, but outscored the Hilltoppers 17-8 in the third quarter to gain command.

The victory snapped a nine-game losing streak for Tamaqua, now 3-12.

All five starters scored in double figures for Mahanoy.

Keith Barna led the Wreckers (11-7, 4-6) with 26 points, including 14 from the free throw line. George Wallish helped out with nine points and nine rebounds.
