Assault, burglary incident probed

State police at Frackville are investigating an attempted break-in and assault incident that occurred early today in the borough of Girardville, Schuylkill County.

Troopers said about 1 a.m. two suspects attempted to gain entry to the residence of Margaret Hennessy, 207 A St., while the victim of sleeping.A witness observed the two on the proeprty attempting to gain entry and apporached them. The two fled on foot west on A. St, then across Second St. into a small wooded area.Troopers said while the two were fleeing, one believed to be a female, they encountered Amber L. McCracken, of Girardville, standing on Second St. by the Jiffy Mart. Troopers said one of the suspects, believed to be a male, placed a knife to McCracken's throat and used force to carry her across the street and into the wooded area where the victim was then able to hide and later escape unharmed.The two suspects were wearing black masks over their faces and black hooded sweatshirts. The male suspect was identified by the one vicitm as wearing short brown pants with tattoos on his calves.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (570) 874-5300.
