The Weatherly boys and Tamaqua girls picked up non-league basketball victories on Wednesday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Moravian Academy-Weatherly

Four Weatherly players reached double figures in scoring as the Wreckers ended regular season play with a 66-56 non-league win over Moravian Academy.

Keith Barna led the way for the winners with 19 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds while George Wallish tied a season-high with 16 points. Weatherly (14-8) also received 15 points from both Brendan Rowan and Nate Pfeiffer while Kyle Harris contributed with 11 rebounds.

The Lions' Logan Bernard led all scorers with 28 points.

In the JV game, Moravian Academy earned a 45-42 win despite 12 points from the Wreckers' Steve Valkos.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lehighton-Tamaqua

Tamaqua rolled to a 56-32 non-league triumph over visiting Lehighton.

The Lady Raiders (21-2) jumped out to an 18-8 lead after one quarter and held the Lady Indians to single digits in each period to pull away.

Amy Zehner poured in 18 points and Cassie Eroh added 14 for the Raiders, who will take on Tri-Valley in the Schuylkill League girls championship game on Friday at 6 p.m.

Jordyn Homyak and Karista Schweitzer each tallied 10 points for Lehighton (9-13), which was eliminated from District 11 playoff consideration with the loss.

Moravian Academy finished as strong as it started to hand Weatherly a 53-37 non-conference setback to end their season.

The Lions placed three players in double figures as Maggie Riley, Maddie Steen and Alexis Burgess finished with 15, 14 and 10 respectively.

The Wreckers' Alexa Figas led all scorers with a game-high 19 points.

Weatherly ends the regular season at 7-15 overall (2-11 SL).

Coughlin won the match on criteria G, most first points scored (5-3).
