Students attending Ss. Peter and Paul School, Lehighton, completed a fundraiser on Friday that will make other children smile.
The students collected coins in Zimmerman's iced tea container for two weeks and after the funds were counted, the children had raised $1,074.11 for Dream Come True, Blue Ridge Chapter.
Zimmerman's Dairy donated the containers for the children. This is the third iced tea fundraiser coordinated by Dream Come True volunteers this school year.
As a thank you for all their hard work, the entire school was treated to a pizza party and several students were awarded prizes for participating. Winning a digital camera was Trenton Blocker-Lutsko. Winners of gift cards were Olivia Wisler, Madison Lutsko, Hannah Christman and Clarissa Colondo.
Dream Come True fulfills wishes of local children who are chronically, seriously or terminally ill. Children who are ill receive their most fondest dream. Some children wish to visit Disneyworld or receive a computer or shopping spree.
Dream Come True, Blue Ridge Chapter has fulfilled 25 dreams and there are currently 15 waiting for a dream.
Funds from the Zimmerman's iced tea promotion will be used to fulfill dreams.
The presentation of prizes and pizza party coincided with the conclusion of Catholic Schools Week.
Mrs. Sherry Ambrose said that the children at Ss. Peter and Paul School enjoy helping other children less fortunate.
"The children usually give it their all whenever they get involved in a project," she said. "I am proud of them because they strive so hard with whatever they do."
