The engagement of Reneé Hrin of Philadelphia, to Joe Solt of Lehighton, has been announced by their families.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of George Hrin and the late Mary Jane Hrin, both of Philadelphia. She is a 1987 graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School; a 1992 graduate from Holy Family University; and a 2003 graduate of Lehigh University, where she earned a master's degree in molecular biology. She is currently employed at Merck & Company, in West Point, Pa. as an HIV researcher.The prospective bridegroom is the son of Ronald and Esther Solt of Lehighton. He is a 1983 graduate of Lehighton Area High School, and a 1985 graduate of Lincoln Tech. He currently works for Elma Electronic in Warminster, Pa. as the materials manager.The couple, who became engaged in Central Park on Sept. 12, 2010, is planning an Oct 22, 2011 wedding.
