The Carbon County Democrats for Change (CCDC) recently held their November meeting at the Inn in Jim Thorpe. Special guest speaker was Cathy Frankenberg of Clean Water Action, a national citizens' organization working for clean, safe, and affordable water, and prevention of health-threatening pollution.
Cathy spoke to the group about Marcellus Shale gas drilling and the affect it could have on the environment. She pointed out that "we are all downstream" and that even though the drilling is not done in the Lehigh Valley area, it has the potential to impact our water supply.
The next meeting of the CCDC will be at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21 when the annual Feliz Navidad party will be held at Pepper Jack's Restaurant located at 41 Broadway in Jim Thorpe. A fun evening is planned with karaoke. Guests are welcome. Anyone interested in attending is asked to contact President Linda Christman at 610-377-0325 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
CCDC is an action group in Carbon County that supports progressive legislation and candidates at the national, state, and local level.
