Tamaqua Middle School holds winter concert

The Tamaqua Middle School Music Department held its annual Winter Concert Holiday Music Program Wednesday evening in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium. The concert was free to the community and featured performances by the middle school sixth grade band and the middle school chorus. The sixth grade band, under the direction of Mark Beltz, opened the concert with "March of the Magical Toys" by Robert W. Smith. They then played a holiday medley entitled "Name That Christmas Carol". The band closed the first half of the program with "Countdown to Christmas" and "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town." The middle school chorus, comprised of students from grades sixth, seventh, and eighth grades, and under the direction of John Buglio presented the second half of the evening's program. The chorus began with "Jubilate Deo" by Sally Albrecht. They then continued with the traditional "Angels We Have Heard on High", followed by "Heavenly Peace." They closed the program with two holiday classics "Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". Accompanists were Julian Gerace, Erin Raymond and Emily Zancofsky.
