Barbara "Stemler" Wiemann, now a resident of East Penn Township, received an award from the Allentown Hiking Club for the many hours she spent working for the club. She is chair of the Appalachian corridor monitoring clubs which make sure there are no encroachments on the land to either side of the trail which is designated park land. Once a year she walks the borders following the monuments that outline the corridor. She reports to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.

She is an alternate to the regional partnership committee made up of 12 clubs. They get together twice a year to learn about what's new in the Mid-Atlantic region. She is a member of the stewardship council which suggests possible new policy procedures."I spend a lot of time in meetings, lead hikes - but what I enjoy most is getting out to go to the Lehigh Gap Nature Center," she said. Her father was Frederick "Latzer" Stemler and mother was Holly "Heintzelman" Stemler.
