Two-vehicle accident detours traffic

Around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Hometown Fire police detoured SR309's northbound traffic through the Hometown Wal-Mart parking lot as emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of the store and Tide Road. Reportedly, a Jeep Cherokee was being driven north when it collided with a white Jeep Liberty. The driver of the Cherokee was cited for going through a red light. A young child was also in the Jeep Liberty. No serious injuries were recorded. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Responding were Rush Township police, Hometown Fire Company and fire police.
