Palmerton Area School District will again be led by its incumbent president, while another incumbent will take over the reigns as vice president.

Director Barry Scherer was reappointed as board president, while Clarency Myers was dubbed vice president, at the school board's reorganizational meeting on Tuesday.

Scherer was nominated for the post by Director Michael Ballard. No other director was nominated for the position.

Myers was nominated for vice president of the board by Ballard. Director Carol Dwyer then nominated Director Carl Bieling for vice president.

Myers was appointed to the post on a 5-3 vote, with directors Darlene Yeakel, Stuart Henritzy, Ballard, Scherer and Myers in favor, and directors Tina Snyder, Dwyer and Bieling opposed.

Director Susan Debski, who attended the meeting, was absent when the votes were taken.

Scherer told the board he was grateful for their support.

"I'd like to thank the board members for their confidence in re-electing me as president," Scherer said. "It's been a challenging year, but we're all here for the kids first."
