State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating two crashes along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County.

A crash occurred about 12:20 p.m. on Aug. 19 as Wayne M. Sease, 52, of Jonestown, Lebanon County, was westbound in the right lane while Akhtar M. Mir, 71, of Yonkers, N.Y., was in the left lane. Troopers said Mir attempted to return to the right lane and hit the rear of Sease's 2004 Freightline trailer with the front of his 2007 Volkswagen Touareg.

Mir and passenger Naseem A. Mir, 70, same address, were injured and taken by Lake Harmony and Lehighton ambulances to the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, Luzerne County, for treatment. Sease was not injured.

Troopers cited MIr for following too closely.

The second crash occurred about 8:14 a.m. on Aug. 22 as James H. Tower, 40, of White Haven, was traveling westbound in a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck when he lost control after driving through standing water. The truck began to fisttail and crossed into the passing lane. The truck went off the south shoulder and struck a dirt embankment. After impact the truck turned counter-clockwise and flipped onto its roof where it came to rest.

Tower sustained a minor injury and was taken to Geisinger by Lake Harmony ambulance. Tower was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
