Sixteen people who entered guity pleas to criminal charges recently in Schuylkill County court were sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin.
Michele Ann Almonti, 51, Pottsville, for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, was sentenced to serve nine to 24 months in a state correctional institution, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund and $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. She was cited at her home by Cpl. Dennis Wiederhold, Pottsville police. She is to report to the county prison at 10 a.m. Sept. 2 to be transported by the sheriff's department to a state facility.
Robert James Barlow, 47, Mahanoy Plane, Gilberton, on a driving under influence (DUI)) charge, sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning at 10 a.m. on Sept. 17, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $176 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend alcohol highway safe driving school and receive outpatient counseling. On a charge of being a habitual offender of the state's motor vehicle code must serve an additional 12 months on probation when his DUI sentence expires. On a charge of having a noisy exhaust system on his car was fined $25 plus costs. Barlow also loses his driver's license for 12 months.
Veronica Lee Bogan, 47, Pottsville, for delivering a controlled substance in the city was sentenced to serve six to 23 months in the county prison with credit for having served 71 days; pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, pay $50 to the Pottsville Police Drug Task Force and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. On a charge of defiant trespass on property of Buy Me Again Pawn Shop, Pottsville, must serve an additional 12 months on probation and pay an additional $50 to CJEA.
Jacqueline Elizabeth Chattin, 19, Pottsville, on a charge of corruption of minors was placed in the Immediate Punishment Program (IPP) for 12 months with the first three months to be served as a period of home confinement with electronic monitoring with the balance to be served on regular probation rules, and pay $50 to CJEA.
Kevin Charles Palamar, 44, Pottsville, DUI, serve 30 days in the county prison and when released to serve four years and 11 months in the IPP, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Castastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school and license suspended 18 months. On a chage of failing to drive on right side of road was fined $25 and costs.
Alan Robert Donmoyer, 29, Tremont, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in the county prison beginning at 7 p.m. on Sept. 3 and may participate in the work release program. He also must pay a fine of $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school and license suspended 18 months. On a charge of driving while his license was suspended was fined $200 and costs. On a charge of defiant trespass on Pottsville Housing Authority grounds must serve an additional 12 months probation.
George Timothy Mager, 56, Pottsville, on a charge of indecent assault he is subjected to standard conditions of probation as a sex offender of a minor victim. He was ordered to serve 24 months on probation and pay $50 to CJEA.
Marissa Jeanette Miller, 33, Pottsville, for being disorderly at the Fairmont Avenue Housing Complex in the city was placed on probation for 12 months and pay $50 to CJEA. On a charge of public drunkenness was fined $75.
Cory Matthew Ratliff, 33, no address, for retail theft of a package of meat from Way Mart Store in Minersville was sentenced to serve 10 days to 12 months in the county prison, pay $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $40 to the store.
John Anthony Sadusky, 42, Pottsville, for harassing Andrew Porterfield, Pottsville, was fined $150.
William P. Shaw, 48, Pottsville, for public drunkenness in the Pottsville Housing Development was fined $200.
Edwin Stewart Sparrow, 42, Potltsville, for assaulting his wife, Mary Catherine, was given credit for serving 22 days in the county prison and was placed on parole for 23 months and pay $50 to CJEA.
Colby Christopher Stewart, 21, Pottsville, for theft of a cell phone belonging to Patricia Long, Pottsville, was placed on probation 18 months, pay $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $150 to the victim.
Jeffrey Swiger, 43, Pottsville, for passing three bad checks to Way Mart Store, Pottsville, was fined $300.
James Russelll Watts, 40, Pottsville, on a charge of theft of leased property was given credit for serving 16 days in the county prison and placed on parole for 23 months and make restitution of $6,291.73 to Rent A Center, Pottsville Plaza. He defaulted on payments.
Helena Dolores White, 39, Pottsville, for giving a false name to police was placed on probation for 12 months and perform 10 hours of community service.
Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
