Mary (Mazurick) Kapish, a resident at Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly, celebrated her 97th birthday on Sunday.

Born on Aug. 29, 1913 in Mahanoy City, she also resided in West Hazleton and Hazleton Heights.She was married to her husband, Andrew Kapish for 49 years until his passing in 1981. They had one son, Calvin "Jackie" Kapish who passed away in 2001.Nana, as she is lovingly called by all who know her, is the proud grandmother of three grandchildren: Lisa Marie Halecky, Denise Marie Lukacs and John Kapish. She is also the proud great-grandmother of Cory, Richard, Kyle, and Amber.She is a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hazleton. The oldest and longest residing resident at Heritage Hill, you can always find "Nana" greeting you from her favorite chair.A party was held in her honor at Heritage Hill with her family and friends.
