Two facing various theft charges

Two Monroe County teens are facing theft charges for allegedly entering several vehicles.

State police at Lehighton said on Aug. 13 about 12:40 p.m. Ranger David Roberts responded to Wild Crreek Trail parking lot along Pohopoco Drive, in Towamensing Township, Carbon County, for two suspicious males in the area.On scene contact was made with Alex Joseph Alvarez, 19, 319 Lower Mountain Rd., and Kenneth John Carifi, 18, of 204 Log Cabin Lane, both of Effort. It was determined that the two were responsible for several vehicle break-ins in the area. The two were apprehended at the scene without incident and 10 stolen items were recovered in their possession as well as narcotics, drug paraphernalia and instruments of crimes were found on them.The recovered items include GPS systems, Ipods and cash. Troopers said there are about 12-20 victims.The investigation is continuing in order to determine the exact number of break-ins and thefts the two are responsible for and the identity of the victims, troopers added.
