Tax bills sent erroneously to taxpayers, listing them as Chestnuthill residents, had five different families coming to the township office this past Saturday. Others who have also received erroneous bills should bring them to the township as well so the matter can be clarified. The families in each case "have always been Polk residents," said Supervisor Nancy C. May.
What the township does not want is people coming to the solid waste transfer station at 3:20 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon when the station closes at 3:30 p.m. It creates a traffic jam of double lines and also causes overtime issues. Folks should come in a more timely fashion.
The culvert replacement in Polk Township for Dotters Corner and Lower Middle Creek is "more involved" than was hoped for according to the township engineer so the board will wait for any action on the matter until contacts have been made and questions have been answered.
No hesitation was in the decision to make the granted 90-day time extension for the final subdivision of lands of Richard and Eileen Yacenko-Devens and Annexation of lands of Michael J. and Tammy T. Held the last such extension. "The plan has been around for a couple of years" and a cover letter would be sent along to explain that this was the final extension.
Estimates are to be received to prepare twin trucks for winter work and an ordinance related to the new addresses and signage requirements that will come to the township in due time will be on hold until said addresses are set. Polk's new addresses have gone to the postal department for review.
Paving of the township roads is done and the painting of township roads, delayed due to paint shortages, is "still on the list," according to Chairman Brian K. Ahner. It is hoped that the work may be done next week.
Reports from township personnel were received. The fire chief reported 19 calls for the month of July and 112 year-to-date. The solicitor reported that a rescheduled property closing would be held Tuesday and the zoning officers reported 197 inspections 10 new homes, 30 complaints YTD and was given the okay to send a violation notice to the Deutsche bank regarding Lot 363, Squirrelwood Court, Birch Hollow Estates.
A post-meeting announcement was that all Polk Township departments will be closed at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 26, for an employee meeting.
