A motorcycle bike run has been established as a fundraiser for Matt Bynon, a Tamaqua police officer who has been diagnosed with goblet cell carcinoid, an abdominal cancer.

The event is called Bikers 4 Bynon and will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26, rain or shine.

The motorcycle ride is being produced by Mystic Ryder Productions, a non-profit organization created by Denise Koons, Tamaqua, who serves as its chief executive officer and plans to use it to hold other fundraising bike runs and events, such as festivals.

According to her website , www.TheMysticRyder.com, Koons spent many years on the board of directors at Stonehedge Gardens in South Tamaqua as an events coordinator, setting up festivals,networking, bringing in vendors, performers, artists, teachers, and practitioners. She specializes in fundraising,donations,sponsorships and marketing and promotions and media, while also teaching holistic modalities and holding holistic sessions.

GambettasTattoos.com is also a producer of the event and artist Kevin Parsons of Gambettas created the badge-like logo for Bikers 4 Bynon.

Registration for the bike run starts at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 26 at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #13 Tamaqua's Owl Creek section. Registration runs until 1 p.m. and kickstands will be up at 1:15 p.m.

Koons said the stops along the run are to be announced. She added that cars and trucks are invited to ride along.

The ride ends at the Lakeside Ballroom on Route 54 in Barnesville, where a reception will be held featuring food, music and other fundraising activities. The registration fee covers participants' admission to the reception. The public is also invited to attend the after-ride reception for a separate fee.

Music for the reception will be provided by A.D.D. and Country Rhythyms, said Koons.
