A Jim Thorpe man was sentenced to a state prison term on Monday. He was one of several defendants who previously entered guilty pleas to be sentenced by Senior Judge Richard W. Webb.

Three countsJoseph McConnell III, 39. who also lists an address in Staten Island, N.Y., was sentenced to serve a total of one to two years in a state prison on three counts. He previously pleaded guilty to fleeing or attempting to elude police, criminal mischief-damage to property, and theft by unlawful taking-moveable property.The fleeing charge stems from an incident that occurred on June 25, 2009, along White Bear Drive in Summit Hill. Borough police clocked his vehicle going 76 miles-per-hour in a 55 zone and attempted to stop him but he fled. He was eventaully caught and charged.The mischief count stems from an incident on April 28, 2009, at the Holiday Pocono in Albrightsville where he was accused of causing an estimated $1,590 in damages.The theft incident occurred on Oct. 19, 2007, in Jim Thorpe where he is accused of taking a 1994 Ford sedan owned by Timothy Yeakel.Webb also ordered that McConnell to supply a DNA sample, have no contact with any of the victims, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, and zero tolerance imposed on D&A use. He was given credit for 218 days spent in prison to date on the charges.Other defendantsOther defendants sentenced included:Jeffrey Wentz, 42, of Lehighton, was sentenced on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI). He was arrested on July 6, 2009, along Delaware Ave., in Palmerton. Given a test, the result was .19BAC.Webb noted this was a sixth conviction for DUI for Wentz.Webb sentenced him to serve 90 days to five years in jail, a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months, get a D&A evaluation, and zero tolerance for D&A use.He was given credit for 28 days spent in a inpatient rehab program. He will serve 30 days in jail on consecutive weekends beginning Friday, Aug. 20, at midnight. The remaining 60 days will be served in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) with electronic monitoring. The 28 days credit will be applied to the 60 days in IPPNathanael Bernard Claudio, 18, of Jim Thorpe, was sentenced on a charge of receiving stolen property. He was arrested by state police at Lehighton for an incident on Feb. 5 with Jennifer Lynn Marykwas the listed victim.Webb placed him on probation for 18 months and ordered he make restitution to the victim of $248.65, must obtain a General Education Diploma (GED), have no contact with the victim or his co-defendant, get both D&A and MH/MR evaluations and zero tolerance imposed on D&A use.Kathleen Anne Tessitore, 49, of Jim Thorpe, was sentenced on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Nov. 13, 2009, along Eighth St., in Jim Thorpe. She refused to submit to a test.Webb sentenced her to serve 90 days to five years in jail, a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and get a D&A evaluation. She will serve 30 days straight in prison beginning Friday, Aug. 20, at 9 a.m. and then 60 days on three day weekends.Brian Lee Werley, 43, of Hamburg, was sentenced on one count each of persistent disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana. He was arrested on May 14 by Lansford police following a domestic incident in which Sharon Card is the listed victim.Webb placed him on probation for six months on the conduct charge and 30 days on the possession count, with the terms running concurrently. He was also ordered to make total restitution to Card for injuries and medical expenses caused in the incident of $5,874.43.Trisha Marie Andrews, 30, of Lehighton, was sentenced on two counts of theft. She was arrested on April 17, 2009, for an incident in which Kelly Bauer is the listed victim in Summit Hill and for a Feb. 3, 2009, incident in which Luann Muffley is the victim.Andrews admitted to a drug addiction problem and went through a rehab program with inpatient care and three months in a halfway house in Johnstown.Webb placed her on probation for two years on each count, running concurrently. She was also ordered to pay total restitution of $2,367.34, get a D&A evaluation, and zero tolerance imposed on D&A use.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
