Lehighton Bike Night XII will be staged Saturday at the Lehighton Park.

The event, which in past years has attracted thousands of motorcycle riders, will be from noon to 8 p.m.

Coordinators are Bud and Louise Stofik, owners of the Bike Shop in Lehighton. Louise said events include a poker run, bike show, and live entertainment.

The entertainment, which is free, is in the Lehighton Park Amphitheater. Bands performing are:

* 1-3 p.m. - Dr. Jeckyl.

* 4-6 p.m. - Aftermath.

* 7-9 p.m. - Screaming Sunday.

Louise said, "Last year we raised $11,000, which was split three ways. The Lehighton Police Department and the Lehighton Fire Department each got $5,000. The Borough of Lehighton got $1,000."

Proceeds will again be split between the police and fire departments, with an additional donation given to the borough for use of the park.

Because of lack of contestants, some of the events held in the past were cancelled for this year. They include the slow bike ride.

Bike Night always attracts bike enthusiasts from several states including Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Delaware. There have been bikers attending in the past from as far away as Texas.

"It's become a major event for bikers," Louise Stofik said.

Of course there are vendors.

The bike show is always a major attraction, with antique, custom built bikes, and new cycles put on display. Judging of these bikes occurs.

Lehighton Bike Night is co-sponsored by Rider Insurance and The Bike Shop.

Lehighton Bike Night has free admission.
