Diakon Living & Learning After 50 and Tuscarora State Park invite area residents to explore the different ways to use this year's harvest, as well as plan for next year's planting season.
An "Early Harvest Festival" will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Tuscarora State Park Visitor Center in Barnesville. Admission is free, although free-will offerings will be accepted.
The festival will offer presentations on freezing, juicing, herb drying and gardening. The focus will be on making homemade jellies, jams, horseradish and soups. Sampling will be permitted
A "Going Wheat Free" program will also be offered. Dave McSurdy will lead a guided walk to learn about useful Indian plants.
