The area around Ninth and North Streets on the East side of Jim Thorpe was alive with activity last weekend as the Fairview Fire Company No. 2 Block Party was held there. The block party had something for everyone with live entertainment, kid's rides, games, beer and beverages, and food including hot dogs, hamburgers, pierogies with butter and onions, and funnel cake. The live bands providing the musical entertainment were "Nightwind" on Friday and "Bees Knees" on Saturday. There was also be a bake sale and Chinese auction for a chance to win prizes.
