The Palmerton Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, May 3, at the Palmerton Community Center, 217 Franklin Ave., Palmerton.
The men and boys of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, May 1. There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola, and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m.
Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting papers only, no magazines. The shiny inserts are acceptable. They also need grocery size brown paper bags.
Persons missed or those wishing to dispose of papers throughout the month may take them to the garage across from the church on Fireline Road, which is always open. In case of bad weather, the drive will be held the following Saturday.
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church
On Sunday, May 2, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, will hold services at 8 and 10:45 a.m. First Communion will be held.
Quilting Saturday will be held on Saturday, May 1, from 9 to noon. Anyone wishing to help with the LWR quilts for Africa are invited to join the group. They meet the first Saturday of each month. People are needed to cut squares, sew, and tie knots. Donations of fabric and bed sheets are always welcome.
Palmerton Area Library
The Teen Advisory Group meets the first Wednesday of each month after school, with the next meeting being Wednesday, May 5. The group is for students in grades 7-12, and new members are always welcome.
Tail Waggin' Tutors, children reading to dogs, sponsored by Therapy Dogs International Inc., will be at the library monthly on the second Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon. This is free to area children, but they must be registered ahead for a time slot.

The Concourse Club Anniversary Dinner for members will be held on Thursday, May 6 at the Blue Ridge Country Club. Cocktails and dinner begin at 6 p.m.
