Applications for nursing, higher education and music scholarships are available for graduating students attending Lehighton Area High School at Trinity Lutheran Church office, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton.
Students who are members of Trinity Lutheran Church will be given first consideration for scholarships, but students from Lehighton Area High School also will be considered to be scholarship recipients if there are no qualifying students who are members of the church.
Applications are available for the Loretta K. Shirar Memorial Scholarship for Nursing and the Robert and Jean Benner Nursing Scholarship. These scholarships were established for the purpose of awarding scholarships to high school seniors or older individual who are pursuing a career as a registered nurse. If there are two or more students pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing or two or more are pursuing an associate degree, the determining factor will be financial need of the student. The Benner Nursing Scholarship may be obtained from the school guidance office.
The Higher Education Scholarship and Kreiger Memorial Scholarship were established to provide help to persons pursuing a degree or diploma from an accredited school of higher learning.
The Thomas L. Reisenweaver Music Scholarship will be given to a student pursuing an undergraduate degree in the music field. First consideration will be given to members of Trinity Lutheran Church. Second consideration will be given to a graduating student from Lehighton Area High School and if there are no qualifying students, an applicant will be considered from Carbon County.
Office hours at the church are from 8 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Application deadline is June 1.
