Pine St. crash damages beer distributorship

A late model Kia Sorento, driven by Richard Gilmore of West Hazleton, ended up careening into the side of Murphy's Beer Distributor, 443 Pine Street in Tamaqua Tuesday afternoon after first striking a parked vehicle along the curb in front of the store. Gilmore told police that he simply failed to move far enough left to avoid crashing into the unoccupied vehicle, which was pushed forward several yards after the initial impact. No injuries were reported but both vehicles had extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene. A part of the beer distributor building also received moderate damage and will be evaluated today. Responding in addition to borough police were volunteers from the American Hose Fire Co., Tamaqua ambulance and rescue squad.
