Former students of the Aquashicola School attended the school's 16th biennial reunion, held at the Polk Township Fire Company in Kresgeville, on Oct. 3.

Although the meal was not set to start until 1 p.m., the hall filled early and former classmates spent an hour reminiscing.

The program started with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer remembering those who have passed on, including teachers, superintendents, principals, students and a beloved bus driver.

According to former student Carol (Hahn) Simcoe, the group continues to gather memorabilia pertaining to the school. This year, the Barry Farenkopf family made a presentation of the diploma of his mother, Anna Hilda Lentz, who graduated from the Aquashicola School on May 24, 1934. Copies of the diploma were made prior to the event, and were presented to all of those in attendance to add to their collection of items from the school.

The signers of the diploma each had descendants at the reunion.

The biennial reunions of the Aquashicola School are held for anyone who attended the school, and not just graduates. The next reunion will be held in 2011 in early October. Those who attended the school at any time, who would like to be invited to the next reunion, may contact Janet Hall at (610) 377-3040; Mary Levandusky at (610) 826-3172; or Beverly Steigler at (610) 826-5739.
