5th Annual Arts Fest

The 5th Annual Arts Fest will be on the 500 and 600 blocks of historic Main Street, Slatington on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a rain date of Sunday, Oct. 4. There are several free activities scheduled.The free musical entertainment begins at 11 a.m. with Mike Peters and John Ortiz performing a wide variety of rock and pop. At 12:30 p.m. The Purcell's will be on stage and will also be strolling the grounds of the Art Fest with a fife and drum. Rounding out the music will be Forgotten Mountain Boys, performing folk and country music. The music stage will be located at the Mountainview High Rise, by the fireman's statue on Main Street. Additional activities include poetry readings by Paul Martin from noon to 12:30 p.m. at the Slatington Library, 650 Main Street.Local historian Christy Haydt, will give a talk on the history of Slatington, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in front of the Slatington Library, 650 Main Street.Magician and juggler Al Grout will perform a show on the music stage beginning at noon and then will stroll the grounds.Take a free tour of the Slatington American Legion's War Memorabilia collection in the basement of the Slatington American Legion, 510 Main Street, from noon to 3 p.m.For additional information on the Arts Fest call (610) 767-7626 or (610) 760-2488.The GatheringThe Gathering sponsored by Northern Lehigh Historical Society will be held at the Trout Run Covered Bride, 7th Street, Slatington on Saturday, Oct. 3. Activities include a health fair tent, free entertainment from 7:30-9:30 p.m. by the Jesse Wade Gang and Fireworks Finale. For additional information please call (610) 760-9281.
