Five area x-country teams sweep

The Panther Valley, Jim Thorpe and Tamaqua boys joined the Northwestern and Tamaqua girls in posting cross country sweeps in multi-team matches on Wednesday.

CROSS COUNTRYPanther Valley-Minersville-WeatherlyThe Panther Valley boys cross country team earned two wins with a 20-44 victory over Weatherly and a 19-38 decision over Minersville. Kyle Picht led the Panthers with a winning time of 19:24. Weatherly also dropped a 27-28 decision to Minersville. Andrew Vack finished in second place to lead the Wreckers.In the lone girls meet, Minersville topped Panther Valley by a score of 21-34. Minersville's Kelsey Mitchell finished in first place with a time of 24:16, while Sindle Griffths paced the Panthers by finishing in second with a time of 25:18.
