November 16, 1979 Chuck Smith and Terry Rex both score touchdowns and Todd Hesse adds a key two-point conversion to lift Palmerton to a 15-14 win over rival Slatington. Smith hits paydirt from two yards out while Rex plunges over from a yard out. Hesse's two-point run after the Rex score gives the Bombers, coached by Jim Tkach, their one-point advantage with nine minutes to play. Palmerton seals the win when Tom Wargo recovers a muffed punt late in the fourth quarter and the Bombers run out the clock.
