Lady Raiders win SL tournament

The Tamaqua girls stayed unbeaten by winning the Southern Lehigh Holiday Tournament on Wednesday night.

In other action, the Panther Valley girls picked up a win, while the Tamaqua boys fell to Hamburg.GIRLS BASKETBALLTamaqua-So. LehighTamaqua defeated host Southern Lehigh in its own tournament, as the Lady Raiders won the championship by a score of 46-35.Amy Zehner led the locals with 19 points. Fellow Raiders Elissa Streisel and Cassie Eroh added 12 and 11 points respectively.Tamaqua (6-0) outscored Southern Lehigh 30-13 in the second and third quarters combined.Zehner was named tournament Most Valuable Player, while teammate Ali Updike and Elissa Streisel were named to the All-Tournament team.In the JV tournament, Tamaqua captured the crown with a 29-24 victory over Stroudsburg.
