The Pa. Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement has cited a Mahanoy City veterans organization's post for violating state liquor laws.

State police said the Veterans of Foreign Wars of U.S., Hall-Reese Post 1420, 3 S. First St., was charged by officers from the District Enforcement Office No. 9, Allentown, for violations that took place on various dates.

The post is charged with selling or furnishing alcoholic beverages to a visibly intoxicated person and possession or operation of gambling devices, lotteries, pools and/or bookmaking on the premises.

The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50-1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation and mandate the licensee or its representatives to attend educational training programs relating to requirements of being a licensee.
