Shareholders of the Jim Thorpe National Bank and the Citizens National Bank of Jim Thorpe have approved the merger of these two local banking institutions. The merger will become formally operative on Jan. 3. The merger is a direct result of the merger of the two former communities, Mauch Chunk and East Mauch Chunk, under the new designation of Jim Thorpe, Pa. in honor of the world's greatest athlete.
