Motorists traveling SR443 in Mahoning Township will encounter a new traffic light at the Normal Square intersection next week. The signal, paid for through $135,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds made available by the Carbon County Commissioners and a $20,000 secured by Rep. Keith McCall, will replace a blinking red light that had been at the intersection for many years. County officials said PennDOT is scheduled to inspect the recently-installed light on Wednesday, Dec. 16, and it is anticipated the light will be in operation the same day on a permanent basis.
